The Receptionist is the first point of contact for all visitors to BioFoodTech.  This position reports to the Administrative Officer and is responsible for providing receptionist and administrative support.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Meet and greet all visitors to BioFoodTech, in a friendly, professional and informative manner, and direct them to the appropriate person, place or resource;
  • Answer and forward incoming phone calls, and maintain up to date list of staff phone numbers;
  • Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable;
  • Filing, photocopying, creating labels, writing client receipts and preparing purchase orders;
  • Maintain an in/out log of visitors to facility;
  • Receive lab samples and ensure they are delivered or picked up in a timely manner;
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Manage the general email account for BioFoodTech;
  • Maintain and order office supplies;
  • Coordinate booking of meeting room;
  • Monitor BioFoodTech website and request updates as needed;
  • Assist Administrative Officer on an on-going basis with tasks as assigned; and
  • Other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma from a recognized Office Studies or Business program
  • Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of word processing and computer applications.
  • Must have a good previous attendance and work record.


Other Qualifications:

  • Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset

Salary Range:            $20.64 to $25.81 - Level 9 (BFT Pay Plan)

Bi-Weekly Hours:      75.0 hours bi-weekly
